47. New Life Saver Logo

As I had previously stated in an earlier post from this week, I had been looking at past art work I had created and I came across a really crazy font I had created in Illustrator about 2 years ago. So I used that font as an inspiration to create a new logo for Life Savers. Granted, it looks more like it belongs on a cereal box, and not a candy logo’s font, but I really felt like trying something different.

46. Awkward Turtle

Yesterday, while I was brain storming on something to create, I was listening to a song about a very awkward situation. Normally my brain storming process involves word association, so it went like this: awkward situation song→ elephant in the room→ animal→ awkward animal→ awkward turtle. I stopped at awkward turtle, because I thought would would be more awkward than if a turtle were to meet another turtle made out of Life Savers and was basically a fake/ imitator/ poser. I would personally find that extremely awkward if I were to meet a another person just like me, made out of Life Savers.

45. Etch-A-Sketch

About 3 years ago I had drawn my Etch-A-Sketch in Illustrator, and as I was going through my previous art, I thought of doing something with it and Life Savers—hence, the image. I realize if we were critiquing it, people would be like “Okay it looks like a plop.” or “So what?” I don’t really have a response to either of those, this is just something that is what it is.

44. Happy Thanksgiving

Since there was no directive this week, I was feeling really festive and excited about Thanksgiving, so I decided to try and make something with the holiday that looks somewhat like a greetings card.

43. Question: Do Life Savers Really Save Your Breath? (Geico Inspired)

I was really having a hard time coming up with something for my last post this week. I find our directive of “Questions” to be incredibly hard, because there are so many things one could ask, and then so many ways one could portray the question. I finally decided to reach out for inspiration. After thinking about this all day, I decided to turn to my favorite commercials right now—which are the Geico Rhetorical Question Commercials. I’m sure you all have seen these and they range from everything from the Little Piggy crying wee-wee-wee all the way to Abraham Lincoln being “Honest Abe.”

This took about 2 hours to make and I created everything via Illustrator, Photoshop, and Comic Life. The only thing I can not take credit for is the picture of the guy from the Geico Commercials.

42. Question: Do Sparks Fly?

Question: Why do Wint-O-Green Life Savers produce a Spark in the Dark?

***I would just like to state that I did NOT create this video.***
I found this video on youTube after experimenting. I decided to find something online, because I thought it would be too hard to capture it on film.

Early this evening, I was searching the internet for interesting questions about Life Savers and came across the fact that Wint-O-Green Life Saver Mints create a spark when biting them at the right angle and force. At first, I thought this was crazy, but then I experimented with one in my bathroom and found it to be true. This is due to effect known as, triboluminescence, which is similar to the electrical charge build-up that produces lightning, only much less grand.

For a really great explanation, check out this cool website.

“How does one portray an Execution with Life Savers?”
